Abstract:

Pure titanium has become popular in oral restorations because of its excellent biocompatibility, low cost high strength and corrosion resistance. However, the tendency of hightemperature oxidation of titanium and the discrepency of thermal expansion coefficients between titanium and porcelain limit its use in PFM restorations. Therefore, the research to enhance the bond strength between pure titanium and porcelain has attracted much attention recently. This paper presents a review on the research of the surface modification of titanium.
