Abstract:
Objective
To study the effect of individualized titanium bracket combined with coralline hydroxyapatite (CHA) and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) on bone defect repairing.
Methods
Radial critical size bone defect models were made on 9 rabbits,Individualized titanium bracket were obtained from CAD/CAM and RP. X-ray, histological examination, biomechanics analysis and immunohistochemical staining were made 4, 12, and 24 weeks post operation.
Results
The integrity of the mandible was ideally recovered. New bone formation was seen in both the X-ray observation and the histological examination (P<0.05). The best osseo-integrity can be observed at 24th week.
Conclusion
It is possible to obtain individualized functional reconstruction of mandibular segmental defect using individualized three-dimensional titanium bracket combined with CHA and rhBMP-2.
