The application of online teaching in the course of Oral Medicine

Abstract:

With the increasing development of network technology and medicine, together with the urgent need for medical update in the teaching of medical students, traditional teaching has gradually evolved into integrated teaching approach which includes online teaching as a pivotal part. As the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic outbroke in January, 2020, the teaching team has introduced online teaching method to the course of Oral Medicine for undergraduates, in which the students could receive knowledge regardless of the space limit. This study described the online teaching method, with the purpose of introducing the new chance and challenge of online teaching in this course and strategies for resolving the problems of online teaching, and also discussing the future application of online teaching in this course. The combined use of online and spot teaching may serve as a novel direction for the teaching of oral medicine.
