Abstract:

Space reduction or loss after the premature loss of the primary molars are often seen in children, which may cause crowding of permanent dentition or ectopically erupting of inheritant teeth. Nevertheless, such cases could be treated with methods of space regaining. This case report utilized a removable appliance as the correcting appliance to regain the lost space caused by premature loss of primary mandibular second molar, by the way of distalizing and uprighting the ectopic permanent first molar. It will also introduce the design and clinical strategy of such appliance and discuss different treatment for distalization of mandibular molars.
