Abstract:

Odontoblasts form the outermost cellular layer of the dental pulp and directly contact with the outside stimuli. These cells are involved in dentin formation by secretion of matrix protein as well as by receiving the stimuli. They have been proposed to act as sensory receptor cells. The studies on types, structure, and mechanism of ion channels on the odontoblasts will further contribute to the molecular biological mechanism of tooth pain. We hope the studies on it bring to us an innovative method to treatment on dentine hypersensitivity.

Key words: Odontoblasts, Ion channels, Transmission mechanism
