Abstract:

Objectives

To study the changes of hard tissue before and after orthodontic treatment for Angle's Class Ⅲmalocclusion adolescence patient with front traction in maxillary by using three new points in cephalometric analysis.

Methods

12 cases of Angle's Class Ⅲmalocclusion adolescence patients were treated by front traction in maxillary, another 12 cases of Angle's Class Ⅰmalocclusion adolescence patients were included as the control group without treatment. Cephalometric analysis was carried out before and after the treatment. Data were analyzed by SPSS11.0 software using paired t-test.

Results

There were significant increases in anteroposterior diameter and thickness of maxillary sinus (P <0.05), while there was no significant change in the centre of maxillary sinus (P >0.05).

Conclusions

It is a feasible approach to study the changes of hard tissue for malocclusion adolescence patient by using three new points of maxilla in cephalometric analysis.
