Exploration and application of phased multidimensional teaching system of periodontology in standardized training of resident physicians

Abstract:

There is a large number of patients with periodontitis in China, but dentists engaged in periodontology are far from meeting the demand. It is urgent to cultivate more general practitioners and periodontal specialists with standardized periodontal disease diagnosis and treatment capabilities. Standardized training for resident physicians trainees is an important reserve force, and how to cultivate their periodontal clinical thinking and operational abilities has always been a challenge. The Department of Periodontology, Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University has been committed to exploring and applying a phased, multi-dimensional teaching system in periodontal residents training for many years. Trainees will be trained in four stages based on the three standard systems of theoretical teaching, operational training, and assessment and evaluation. At the same time, with the assistance of the Internet, various teaching forms and innovative technologies, we have been carrying out courses from multiple dimensions to ensure students gradually and firmly master periodontal clinical thinking and operational skills, and achieve the training goal of cultivating resident trainees with clinical competence in periodontology.
