Abstract:

In recent years, owing to the abuse of antibiotics, the infection of resistant bacteria is more and more serious. Antimicrobial peptide (AMP) , a kind of common cationic amphiphilic peptides in the biological body, plays an importance role in organism immune defense. AMP has many advantages such as broad antimicrobial spectrum, highly antibacterial activities, fast working and low drug-resistance effect. Decapeptide KSL and its analogues are kinds of new synthetic antibacterial 10 peptides, which have highly antibacterial activities and less toxic compared to natural AMP, and thereby are considered to be applied in the prevention of the secondary caries. In this view, we focus on the antimicrobial characteristics and applications in oral medicine of KSL and its analogs.

Key words: KSL, Anti-microbial peptide, Bacteria, Oral material
