Abstract:

Objectives

To evaluate the clinical effect of uprighting the tilting molars with the application of segmental arch and micro-implant anchorage.

Methods

Twenty-four cases (28 tilting molars) with mesially inclined molars were treated corrected with segmental arch and micro-implant anchorage to upright the tilting molars. The clinical effect was evaluated by modal examination.

Results

Tilting molars presented a significant effect of uprighting after treatment. The first molar showed a horizontal shift of (1.92 ± 0.98) mm and mesially inclined angle was decreased by(20.67 ± 5.14)°. The second molar showed a horizontal shift of (2.60 ± 1.09) mm and mesially inclined angle was decreased by (25.36 ± 6.57)°.

Conclusions

The application of segmental arch and micro-implant anchorage is a simple, comfortable, effective method for uprighting the tilting molars.

Key words: Segmental arch, Micro-implant anchorage, Molar uprighting
