Application of cyst plug in decompression and suction drainage in the treatment of large odontogenic cystic lesions of the jaw

Objective

To investigate the clinical value of cyst plug in decompression and suction drainage in the treatment of large jaw odontogenic cystic lesions.

Methods

Twenty four individualized cyst plugs made of ＂Mucopren soft＂ material were successfully applied to treat large jaw odontogenic cystic lesions. We also analyzed the advantage and complications of this kind of cyst plug.

Results

Totally twenty four cases of jaw large odontognenic lesions with the treatment of decompression or suction drainage have been reported to have pretty good result. The preparation and manufacturing of the individual cyst plug was simple， good looking， convenient，comfortable and reliable. The negative pressure of the night piece could hold for the whole night.The patient could simply adjust by cutting with scissors when they feel any discomfort.

Conclusion

The cyst plug made of ＂Mucopren soft＂ material is an ideal device for decompression and suction drainage in the treatment of large jaw odontogenic cystic lesions.
