Type Ⅰ: coronal fracture (4 cases); type Ⅱ: sagittal fracture(3 cases); type Ⅲ: temporal fracture (1 case) and type Ⅳ: comminuted fracture of zygomatic root companied with zygomatic arch defect (2 cases). In order to reconstruct the zygomatic arch and facial appearance, all cases of complex zygomatic trauma were treated with different methods.

Results

All the incisions healed primarily, facial contours were satisfactory, occlusion became normal and no facial nerve damaged.

Conclusions

Different zygomatic root fractures could be managed in different ways. With accurate anatomic replacement and rigid internal fixation, the facial width and height of zygomatic process could be satisfactory restored.
