Effects of the Nd:YAG laser radiation on the proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity of human periodontal ligament fibroblasts

Abstract:

Objective

To observe the effect of Nd:YAG laser on alkaline phosphatase activity and human periodontal ligament fibroblast (HPLF) proliferation HPLF proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity after the radiation of Nd:YAG laser.)

Methods

HPLF were cultured after enzymatic digestion, the cells were identified by immunohistochemistry. HPLF were divided into groups and treated with Nd:YAG laser of different dose. The proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity of different were evaluated (These groups were dynamically observed for their proliferation, and detected for their alkaline phosphatase activity).

Results

The cell proliferation and ALP activity of HPLF in all the experimental groups have increased, the differences between the experimental groups which energy intensities is 60, 80,100 j/cm2 and the control group were significant.

Conclusion

Low intensity of Nd:YAG laser radiation can improve the Human periodontal ligament fibroblasts proliferation and alkaline phosphatase activity.
