Practice and teaching thinking of course ideology and politics in teaching of preventive dentistry

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application of ideological and political education model in theory teaching of oral preventive medicine.

Methods

In April 2021, four classes of 2017 undergraduate students from Guanghua school of Stomatology, Sun Yat-sen University were selected, including 61 students in classes 1 and 2 and 49 students in classes 3 and 4. The teaching content was the chapters of oral health promotion and community oral health services in the theoretical course of oral preventive medicine. Class 1 and class 2 were taken as the experimental group, which integrated ideological and political elements into the teaching of their professional courses. Class 3 and class 4 were the control group, and we teached them professional knowledge according to the content of the syllabus. A questionnaire was used to investigate students′ evaluation of teaching effect. Cronbach′s α Coefficient method was used to analyze the reliability of the questionnaire, and exploratory factors were used to analyze the validity of the questionnaire. Chisquare test was used to analyze the teaching effect of the two groups.

Results

The percentage of students think the necessity of implementing ideological and political theories teaching is higher in experimental group than control group (89.83% vs. 77.55%, χ2 = 3.043, P = 0.081) . The teacher designs the link of educating people through ideological and political theories in learning of these chapters (93.22% vs. 89.80%, χ2 = 0.085, P = 0.771) , and the integration point of educating people through ideological and political theories designed by the teacher is introduced so naturally (86.44% vs. 83.67%, χ2 = 0.162, P = 0.687) that it can strike a chord (84.75% vs. 71.43%, χ2 = 2.832, P = 0.092) , satisfied with the teaching effect of integrating ideological and political element (84.75% vs. 71.43%, χ2 = 2.832, P = 0.092) .

Conclusion

The teaching mode of ideological and political theories teaching has a certain promoting effect on the teaching effect of oral preventive medicine theory course.
