Application of Peplau Interpersonal relations in orthodontic treatment nursing

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the practice effect of the Peplau's theory of interpersonal relation on the relationship between nurses and patients and the patient compliance, during nursing process of orthodontics treatment.

Methods

Two hundred and eighty six patients with malocclusionwere guided by the Peplau's theory of interpersonal relation to carry out the related orthodontic nursing.

Results

During the whole nursingl process, patients and nurses had a good communication. The patient satisfaction rate for nursing service quality increased year by year, Patient satisfaction rate and compliance rate were 95.2% and 93.8% in 2012, improved to 97.3% and 95.6% in 2013, and 99.5%,98.5% in 2014 respectively.

Conclusion

The Peplau's theory of interpersonal relation can promote the relationship between nurses and patients and improve the patient compliance during the nursing process of orthodontics treatment.
