Abstract:

Somatic stem cells refer to the immature cells existing in specific tissue of human and mammal, which have self-renewal and certain differential potential. They also participate in the tissue regeneration and traumatic reparation. Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), one kind of somatic stem cells, have been confirmed to contribute to the repairation of injured dental pulp. Moreover, how to promote its ability to regenerate the dental pulp by regulating the motifs of DPSCs is urgently needed. Oct4, which is indispensable for the gene regulation of stem cells, contributes to pluripotency maintenance in somatic stem cells. By reviewing the structures and functions of Oct4, we aim to show how Oct4 regulates the somatic stem cells. This will help elucidate the role of Oct4 in dental pulp stem cells.
