Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of IL-1β on cells migration in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and the mechanism during the process.

Methods

The proliferation of SCC-9 cells treated with various concentrations of IL-1β was evaluated by CCK-8 assay; cells migration was examined by Transwell supports with Matriigel-coated; the mRNA expressions of HIF-1α, VEGF and CXCR1 were determined by RT-PCR.

Results

IL-1β did not affect the proliferation of SCC-9 cells; IL-1β activated a migratory program in SCC-9 cells; the mRNA expressions of HIF-1α, VEGF and CXCR1 were up-regulated in SCC-9 cells in response to IL-1β.

Conclusions

IL-1β may promote the migratory potential of SCC-9 cells by up-regulating the expressions of HIF-1α, VEGF and CXCR1.
