Retrospective analysis of clinical effect on 184 cases with parotid gland tumor

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the method of improving diagnosis accuracy and recovery rate of parotid gland neoplasm.

Methods

A retrospective analysis on 184 cases of parotid gland neoplasm from 2002 to 2006 with a confirmed pathologic diagnosis was carried out.The pathological type， surgical method， recovery rate and recurrence rate， complications of all cases were recorded.

Results

139 out of 184 cases were benign tumor， the other 45 were malignant.ALL cases were underwent surgery and the malignant cases were combined with postoperative radiotherapy.173 out of 184 cases of were cured through surgery.Recurrence was found in 3 cases of mixed tumor and 6 cases of malignant.Metastasis was observed in 2 of the malignant cases.

Conclusions

Surgery is still the first choice for parotid gland neoplasm， the surgical pattern should be choosen according to the situation of different patients.
