Abstract:
Objective
To evaluate the effect of ultrasonic irrigation on the clinical outcome of symptomatic apical periodontitis.
Methods
62 teeth with symptomatic apical periodontitis were randomly divided into two groups. The short-term and long-term outcomes were evaluated after 1 week and 12 months respectively.
Results
After 1 week, the effectiveness rate of ultrasonic group was higher than that of the Ca (OH)2 group (P<0.05).After 12 months, the healing rates of two groups were nearly the same.
Conclusion
The effect of ultrasonic irrigation on the clinical outcome of symptomatic apical periodontitis was proved predictable.
