Objective
To evaluate the marginal sealing potential, manipulation time and complexity of compomer restorative material with different adhesive systems used in primary teeth.
Methods
ClassⅠcavities were prepared in primary molar.Teeth were divided into 3 groups to simulate clinical restoration with three adhesive systems: Single Bond, Xeno Ⅲ and iBond.Manipulation time was recorded. After thermocycle (500 cycles between 5℃~55℃with 15-second dwell time), specimens were observed by electron microscope (SEM) and dye infiltration were performed on them. The thicknesses of adhesive resin were measured and marginal integrity was evaluated.
Results
The marginal sealing of the iBond group is significantly poorer than that of the other 2 groups (P <0.05).The manipulation time of XenoⅢgroup is significantly shorter than that of the other 2 groups (P <0.05).
Conclusions
The marginal sealing potential of the selfetching adhesive system, XenoⅢ, is close to all-etching system, Single bond.In addition, the operation time and stimulus can also be reduced. The self-etching system, iBond demonstrates poorer marginal-sealing, longer manipulation time and higher complex. It is not recommended to use the iBond adhesive system in pediatric dentistry.
